The February meeting will be held at 7 PM, Wednesday February 18 at the 55 Plus Centre.
Outside the 55Plus Centre the temperature was a very cold minus 15 C with gusty winds (plus wind chill). Doug, VE3EFC was the only one to actually operate CW using a keyer out in open. (and wearing large bulky mitts, too.) Now that is an operating challenge!! Mike,VE3EDX used CW and Ken, VE3EFZ used SSB inside their vehicles with their motors running. All six of this year's 2015 FYBO hams appreciated the hotly served, and very tasty and colourful chili prepared by (Bob, VE3RVA's daughter) Trisha. Thank you! Don, VA3DEF and Mike, VE3HZW also attended and sat in the slightly warm vehicles with Mike and Ken during this years FYBO event. The G5RV antenna was re-installed on Sunday November 9, 2014. Also the new ground rod was hooked up to the tower frame.
Thanks to VE3RVA, VE3EFC, VE3EDT and VE3EDX for working on this cold and windy Sunday afternoon. Thanks to the generosity and expertise of Tower Light Ltd , the repairs to the west tower are now complete. The tower is no longer leaning and the rotator clamps are no longer slipping. A ground rod has been installed at the tower base. The beam is now resonating at 7.1 MHz instead of 6.9 MHz. Click on Photos link above to see details of this work. Many thanks to Tower Light for this generous donation.
The November meeting will be held at 7 PM, Wednesday November 19 at the 55 Plus Centre.
